The Blob: Ciaran's Journal

Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences.

Are you looking for the journal code?

Jan 15, 2005: LiveJournal's down... (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 20:48 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Sonicflood - Holiness

...so you get to see this journal in use again at least once. ;)

Take my heart and form it;
Take my mind, and transform it;
Take my will, and conform it
to Yours, to Yours, oh Lord...

-- "Holiness", Sonicflood.

I've been thinking about Christian stuffs lately. I almost never talk about Christianity in my journal nowadays, which is a shame. I hope it's not reflective of my Christianity in general.

...no, it's not. I know that much. But I do need to talk about it more.

I'm tempted to leave it until LiveJournal is back up, though. That's my home now, and I feel like I should be saying things there.

I still love God. I am still a Christian. And I still berate myself for not reading my Bible more often. I really should. I pray that God would help me with that.

Gah, it feels wrong to be writing here now.

Bleh. Oh well.

May 26, 2004: He lives! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 20:43 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: None

Yep. I'm still alive, for anybody who's still checking this journal (which is probably pretty much nobody, but there you go).

If anybody's interested, I'm now using LiveJournal for my journalling, and have done for the better part of a year now. I now feel comfortable with telling people here where I am and what I'm doing. The LJ is friends-only, save for some select entries. Reply to one of my posts and say you want to be friended if you want to see the full thing.

My main reason for posting here was to say to the world that I've finally gone and released my code onto SourceForge. The project page is here: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/blobjournal/. The release currently available for download there is the latest release - that is, the one I'm currently running this blog on. It's less fully-featured than I'd like, but it still has some cool stuff.

So, yeah. Go forth and download. And then tell me what you think. :)

Aug 26, 2003: Tongue twisters! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 14:44 - Mood: Happy - Location: Other - Now playing: n/a

If you're feeling bored right now, here's a challenge - spell the place name Woolloomooloo out loud, using "double-oh", etc for the letter pairs. I warn you, it's hard. *grin*

July 20, 2003: I spoke to Sam! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 06:59 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Last night I was thinking. The RinkUnion (a meeting of Rinkies) is taking place at the moment - it began yesterday and ends today. I was hoping that I could phone the place they were staying and talk to loads of Rinkies at once, so I phoned... but the meeting room they were in didn't have a phone of its own.

But no matter. I managed to speak to Sam, the creator of RinkWorks, and that makes me all happy and pleased and stuff - although I do feel sorta guilty for dragging him out the room where they were watching the Sinbad movie down to the front desk just to answer my call. *sigh* Oh well, we both agreed it was cool to hear each other's voices. :D

So I've now spoken to six other Rinkies on the phone (yeah, I know, Sam's technically an uber-Rinkie and should thus count as two, but, eh). If you're a Rinkie and reading this... watch out, you could be next. Mwahahahahaha!!!!!

July 17, 2003: Why can I never think of good subject lines? (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 14:01 - Mood: Sad - Location: Home - Now playing: Digimon - Butterfly

Blah. I meant to say this last night, but I didn't get the job. :(

So I'm still looking. We'll see what happens.

July 15, 2003: Back! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 12:34 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Well, I'm back. Have been for some time actually, but, eh. I think it went well. I'll hear from them tonight or tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

July 15, 2003: Interview (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 06:59 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a

About to go to the interview. Wish me luck.

July 14, 2003: Where have I lived and/or been in the US? (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 18:20 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Well, everyone else is doing it...

That's correct; I've been absolutely nowhere in the US. So sue me. ;p

July 14, 2003: Jobs and stuff (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 17:44 - Mood: Thoughtful - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

I have a job interview tomorrow, as I'm applying for a post of ICT Technician in a grammar school for girls. Slightly nervous.

Pray for me, please! :D

July 11, 2003: More Rinkies... (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 19:15 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Rapture - Victorious Flight

Well, I've now also spoken to Zarniwoop on the phone, which makes five Rinkies I've spoken to. Whee.

July 9, 2003: To call a Rinkie... (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 16:42 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

I'm on a mission - to speak to as many Rinkies as I can on the phone. I've just spoken with nomie, which brings my total up to four - I've also spoken with Lindra, wintermute, and famous.

I wonder who I can pick on next... >:D

Jun 20, 2003: GIF Liberation Day! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 16:06 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Well, today is GIF Liberation Day, the day on which US Patent 4,558,302 expires.

While definitely a cause for celebration, not everybody seems to realise that this is only in the US. Patents on LZW are still in force in other countries, according to the Burn All GIFs site. Not only that, but a lot of sites use PNG files now anyway, because of its better compression.

Still, it's an occasion. Break out the champagne!

Jun 13, 2003: Um. Oops. (again) (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 09:03 - Mood: Thoughtful - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

I just realised that I only answered 9 questions im my previous blog entry. Here's the 10th...

10. What song sums up your life right now?
Probably Now To Live The Life by Matt Redman...

Many are the words we speak,
Many are the songs we sing,
Many all these offerings,
but now to live the life...

Jun 13, 2003: The 5,000 Question Survey (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 08:52 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Well, Krissy is doing it, and a lot of other people are too, so I guess I should do the 5,000 question survey as well.

I'm not quite sure how I'll do this, but I've done the first 10 questions, so here they are... I'll probably post in batches of 10 or 50, depending on my mood at the time...
