The Blob: Ciaran's Journal
Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences. May 31, 2002: Woo-hoo! (link | trackback: 0) Time: 15:06 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a I'm happy. Why? Because last night I spoke to someone who I haven't heard from for a long, long time. :D Her name's Louise, and she was my first girlfriend (I've only had one other, but I've never felt quite the same way about her). She sent me a letter which I got yesterday, which included her new mobile phone number. So I rang (quite late at night), and we talked. :) This sounds odd, but I still have feelings for Louise... but I don't really want to say any more in here about us - at least, not yet. We'll just see how things pan out... In other news, a friend of mine in IRC (Jaime) sent me some Barbershop songs... and I loved 'em. :) I never really knew that's what Barbershop sounded like. I'm probably gonna investigate some more into it. One of the best ones (in my opinion) is "I'm Gonna Live Till I Die", sung by a group called Keepsake. As that page says... "I'm Going to Live Till I Die" features one of the many audacious Keepsake tags, where the tenor voice soars in a holding pattern over the remaining three, floating, seemingly without effort, on an endless supply of air. Finally, as the four voices join together in the final glorious chord, the sun breaks through the clouds in all its magnificence. This is barbershop at its best. (for those who don't know, a "tag" is the last line of a song, and especially the way it's sung - I didn't know what it was either) I also had an idea... why not have barbershop over the Internet? In other words, people record their individual parts and then someone combines them into a single file... with proper co-ordination and a good metronome program (such as my VisualMetronome program), it should be fun. :-D We'll see... Oh, and I'm going ice skating again tonight - it'll be the same place as the last time I did it, so at least I've got a bit of experience under my belt now. :) See ya! :) [back to main screen] |
