The Blob: Ciaran's Journal

Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences.

Feb 20, 2003: This is a journal, right? (link | trackback: 0)

I've been writing too much of my journal of late, and not enough about me. Also, it doesn't look too much like a blog. So I think I'll just correct that, if you don't mind...

Lately, I've found some interesting stuff on the Web. Stuff like Shi's blog (Shi used to be the co-owner of CyberPixels, which is where I currently work). I found it on a Google search - occasionally I'll seach for my name and "CyberPixels" on the same page so that I can see what people think of me, and so on. Normally Google tries to tell me I mean "Cyberpals" instead and redirects me to this new search, but this time, I actually had a result - this entry. Heh.

I'm also visiting the forums at SceneSpot regularly now. SceneSpot is a website dedicated to the demoscene (basically, a culture made up of experienced people making "demos" which show off just how far you can push a computer while still having a fuid display). It's also the home to Static Line, an email-based newsletter which contains a number of informative articles and reviews. :) If you're not sure about what the demoscene is, here's a good page that attempts to explain it.

The RinkWorks site - the home of RinkChat - is going to be home of a variant called RookChat soon. This is a complete rewrite of the RinkChat code, and it'll be released in open source form when it's finished. This can only be a good thing. :)

Now, what about me? Well, it's official - I'm going to Spring Harvest this year! Yay! Long-time readers may remember that I've talked about it before, and that I couldn't go in the end. Well, not so this time - I'm going this year. Who knows, I might even meet fellow ODP editor rpfuller there - he's going too.

Anyway, it's getting late and I really ought to be in bed. So, I think I'll go now... see ya. :D
