The Blob: Ciaran's Journal

Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences.

Are you looking for the journal code?

Feb 20, 2003: This is a journal, right? (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 00:50 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a

I've been writing too much of my journal of late, and not enough about me. Also, it doesn't look too much like a blog. So I think I'll just correct that, if you don't mind...

Feb 16, 2003: Journal code RELEASED! (part 2) (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 19:41 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Okay, I've now fixed everything that was wrong in my last half-baked release of the code, apart from the documentation - I'm still writing that. However, if you want to download the new code, go ahead. :) It's recommended you download it anyway, as there's some fixes for things in the new journal.cgi file as well.

I'll let you know when the documentation's done. :)

Feb 15, 2003: Umm, oops. (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 12:22 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing

Er, yeah. I told you I was tired. ;p

Last night I forgot to put in the addjournal.cgi file into the archives. So right now there's only the main file which displays the entry, but no means of adding entries. I suck.

I'm working on getting addjournal.cgi's code up to scratch with the rest of the code, so it won't be coming just yet. But I'll add it as soon as I'm done.

Feb 15, 2003: Journal code RELEASED! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 01:41 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a

Yes, you heard that right folks. I have now officially released my journal code! (and there was much cheer and rejoicing)

Seriously, I'd be very interested to hear your comments about the code, and what you think about it, how easy it is to customise, etc. So go download it now at http://theblob.org/journal.shtml. :)

Oh, and forgive the fact that I forgot to put the GPL in. It's 1:42am here, and I'm tiiiiiiiiired. :)

Feb 14, 2003: Happy Valentine's Day! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 13:44 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Brian Houston - Your Whisper

I wanna thank You, you're the God of mercy,
I wanna thank You Lord for giving me peace,
I wanna thank You, you're the God who loved me,
I wanna thank You, you're the God who rescued me!

-- Brian Houston, "Your Whisper"

Well, it's a lovely day today. :D And this song that's playing is utterly cool. I love it.

I don't have anyone to share Valentine's Day with, but I'm not particularly bothered. I'm working on my journal code, and I hope to get it released today. If not today, then sometime during the weekend. :)

One thing I will ask of You, this will I pray,
to dwell in Your house, O Lord, every day,
to gaze upon Your lovely face,
and rest in the Father's embrace!

Sorry, I just felt like putting that in. It's another song which is cool. Or maybe I'm just feeling happy and bouncy today. Either way, I love it. :D

Have a good one! :D

Feb 12, 2003: Update (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 18:35 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Axel Foley Theme - Beverly Hills Cop

Sorry for the lack of updates recently. Quite a few things have been happening.

Firstly, the computers and network have been fully set up. I haven't converted the old computer to a firewall yet as I'm still getting data from it. I have installed Slackware on it though, as a test to see what it could handle. It appears to be doing well so far. I installed it onto a 500MB ext2 partition and a 32MB swap partition. I chose not to install X on there, or any compilation tools (eg. gcc). I also set it up as a Samba server so I could retrieve my files easily with Network Neighbourhood on the Windows box.

Once I've got all I want, I'll install a firewall distro, probably MNF. Then I'll hook it up and see how things go. :D

I'm also nearly done with my journal update. When this is done, I'll be making a page about it on the site and officially releasing the code under the GPL. :)

More later...
