The Blob: Ciaran's Journal
Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences. Are you looking for the journal code? 4 entries shown (most recent first):
Mar 26, 2003: Mandrake Linux 9.1 is installed! (link | trackback: 0) Time: 21:57 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing Well, I've now repartitioned the hard disk and installed Mandrake Linux 9.1. My first impressions are that it's very nice looking indeed - you probably already know that it comes with its own KDE and GNOME theme called "Galaxy". It really does look pretty good. There's only one peeve I have about it right now, but this is really KDE's fault, not Mandrake's - in the KDE Control Center, I selected that I want to use sub-pixel hinting for the anti-aliasing, thinking that it would look good on my LCD monitor. As it turned out, I actually prefer it without hinting. That's not my peeve. My peeve is that I can't turn it back off again. Time to use the bug report tool, methinks. :) I'll probably write up a full review later, and I'm guessing that Timothy Butler of Open for Business will too. :D Mar 26, 2003: Playing with Bamboo... (link | trackback: 0) Time: 10:28 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Nothing So, Mandrake Linux 9.1 is out. I'm downloading it right now (I currently use 9.0 as my desktop OS - sorry, I forgot to mention that before), and I'll let y'all know how it turns out. This is actually pretty good because I'm going to be repartitioning my hard drive anyway, so I might as well use the latest version while I'm doing it. I'll be back. :) Mar 19, 2003: Monthly Archives (link | trackback: 0) Time: 02:11 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a I've now updated the blog code to allow it to do monthly archives - check out the sidebar to see it in action. :D The monthly archive links are put in place by the {blogMonthArchives} tag. Right now it's only done in HTML, but I'll revise that to take the layout from a setting in the template config file before I release it. I have, however, updated the ODP Weblog's code to allow it to use monthly archives too, so the panic's over. :D With the monthly archives, I'm not sure whether I need the "all entries" link hanging around on this site. I'll keep it in the code, but whether or not I need it here is another story. Hmm... Mar 13, 2003: The ODP Weblog (link | trackback: 0) Time: 00:06 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a Yeah, I know, I haven't updated for ages. But I thought you might like to know that another weblog has made its way into the family of those using my journal code as a base. :) This one is about the ODP and what's going on there. It also sports an extension which I'll be bringing back to the main code - the {entryUser} tag, which gets replaced by the name of the currently logged-in user. The only thing I'm slightly worries about is that I still haven't put in the opportunity to view archives by month. It's either the last 10 (in the ODP Weblog's case) or all of 'em. I think the monthly archives is something to do next. The weblog's at 9 entries already and soon entries will start to drop off from the main screen. Hee. I like this code. :D |
