Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences.

May 31, 2002: Woo-hoo! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 15:06 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I'm happy. Why? Because last night I spoke to someone who I haven't heard from for a long, long time. :D

Her name's Louise, and she was my first girlfriend (I've only had one other, but I've never felt quite the same way about her). She sent me a letter which I got yesterday, which included her new mobile phone number. So I rang (quite late at night), and we talked. :)

This sounds odd, but I still have feelings for Louise... but I don't really want to say any more in here about us - at least, not yet. We'll just see how things pan out...

In other news, a friend of mine in IRC (Jaime) sent me some Barbershop songs... and I loved 'em. :) I never really knew that's what Barbershop sounded like. I'm probably gonna investigate some more into it. One of the best ones (in my opinion) is "I'm Gonna Live Till I Die", sung by a group called Keepsake. As that page says...

"I'm Going to Live Till I Die" features one of the many audacious Keepsake tags, where the tenor voice soars in a holding pattern over the remaining three, floating, seemingly without effort, on an endless supply of air. Finally, as the four voices join together in the final glorious chord, the sun breaks through the clouds in all its magnificence. This is barbershop at its best.

(for those who don't know, a "tag" is the last line of a song, and especially the way it's sung - I didn't know what it was either)

I also had an idea... why not have barbershop over the Internet? In other words, people record their individual parts and then someone combines them into a single file... with proper co-ordination and a good metronome program (such as my VisualMetronome program), it should be fun. :-D We'll see...

Oh, and I'm going ice skating again tonight - it'll be the same place as the last time I did it, so at least I've got a bit of experience under my belt now. :)

See ya! :)

May 24, 2002: Blarg (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 14:38 - Mood: Happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I know I haven't written much recently, but that's mostly because I've been putting it off. I'm like that sometimes; I always put things off. Bleh.

Anyway, I've had a good time. On the 18th, I met up with a whole load of ODP editors in the UK. One of them was beebware, who I've told you about before. :D I also met Neil there, which was cool. In all, about 12 different editors came along, and it was great meeting them all. :)

I'm working on the second page of the review, but I'm doing a whole load of other stuff too. So you might have to wait some time.

Bleh, I'll talk more later. See ya!

May 15, 2002: Windows XP Review - First page (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 15:59 - Mood: Happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

Well, I've completed the first page of my Windows XP review. Take a look, and then tell me what you think. :)

Darn, I really need to get working on the comments feature of this journal...

May 15, 2002: Windows XP (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 11:31 - Mood: Thoughtful - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I discovered something today. Windows XP is scary.

I took a look at it today. Using VMware Workstation, I installed Windows XP Professional onto a clean virtual disk. I'll post my full findings on theblob.org in the near future. But I will say this; Windows XP is ridiculously easy to set up. Almost too easy, in fact; you don't get the chance to say what components get installed or not - it just installs them.

I'll give the link to my full review of it when I've finished it. :)

May 14, 2002: THANK YOU LORD!! :D (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 10:04 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I have come to love You,
for You have won my heart,
when You revealed Your love to me...

My life will be a witness,
of such love and such forgiveness,
for You have given me Your peace...

And You're everything I need...

-- Martin Cooper and Paul Oakley, "I Have Come To Love You"

I had an amazing experience last night. One of my friends (ODP editor beebware) gave his life to Jesus! I am sooo happy for him! It's made even better by the fact that I'll be meeting up with him and a whole load of other ODP editors on the 18th at Birmingham... I can't wait to see him. :)

In his own words, 'I just feel like cursing myself for being so blind - but "none are as blind as those who do not want to see". God was there all along and I just never noticed....I AM SORRY GOD.... and thank you for just being there.'

But here's a freaky thing. Some of you may have noticed that I no longer stay up late at night - this is because I realised it was wrong, and I made a promise to God that I wouldn't do it again, unless it was His will.

But last night, I felt that God was telling me to go downstairs. I knew this was different because normally I get a strong feeling not to go down. However, God was definitely telling me to go down that night. At the time, I didn't know why - but while I was downstairs, I started chatting with Beebs, and had a long conversation about Christianity. And shortly before 1:00am on May 14th, he became a Christian. :-D Praise the Lord!

Honestly, that was a truly awesome experience, even for me - seeing first-hand how people can come to know God. I'll definitely be keeping Beebs in my prayers, and if you're a Christian and reading this, I'd ask if you could, too. I'm probably gonna keep in close contact with him from now on, so please pray for me as well.

Lord, thank you so, so much for showing Beebs Your love last night. I pray that he will grow in his faith and come to know and love You even more than he's ever done before. Thank you, Lord Jesus! :) Amen.

May 4, 2002: Domain registered! (finally) (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 16:55 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: Jeroen Tel - Robocop 3

Well, I've gone and registered trinitymethodist.org.uk. I decided that I didn't want the hyphen in the middle of the name, as it's more natural for people to remember domains as one long word. I would have registered it with Joker, but they don't do UK domain names, so I went with DomainMonger instead, who I've heard are quite good.

I haven't pointed the domain anywhere yet, and the whois information hasn't updated. But I've signed up another domain with Hosting Matters, and I've set up preliminary information in my EveryDNS account. As soon as I get the email from Hosting Matters telling me my IP address, I'll connect it all up - and then I'll start recruiting people within the church to help out. I want this website to be updated regularly, and fully - unlike the previous one which really only updates its weekly bulletins.

*sigh* It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it...

May 4, 2002: What's up with Verisign? (link | trackback: 1)
Time: 08:19 - Mood: Not happy, not sad - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a

After reading a post on another blog about someone's experience with Verisign, I'm saddened that this sort of thing could happen. There's a whole load of Verisign links in this post because that way, Google will pick it up and people searching for Verisign will see the article I keep linking Verisign to, and not the company. Remember that Google Bombing entry I made? Well, that's exactly what people are doing with Verisign, including me. You can read the original blog entry I read if you like.

But I encourage people to make a post in their blogs and link Verisign to the article. You can see it by clicking on any of the Verisign links in this post.
