The Blob: Ciaran's Journal

Welcome to my journal. This is where I'll be revealing my innermost thoughts and feelings to the world. Occasionally I'll talk about other stuff, but mostly about my experiences.

Aug 30, 2002: Some clarifications... (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 12:03 - Mood: Not happy, not sad - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I was just reading back through my past entries in this journal, and I realised that there are some things I haven't mentioned...

Firstly, about my post called Mixed feelings, I should mention that although I said then that I thought nudism was an idea worth exploring, I no longer feel that way, and haven't done for quite a while. In fact, I don't know why I even said it...

Secondly, I forgot to mention a very important piece of information. On the 5th of August, 2002, I took my driving test - and passed! Praise the Lord! :D I've been driving on my own to different places since then, and it's really quite cool. :)

Just thought you'd want to know...

Aug 29, 2002: There *is* a louder shout to come! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 12:02 - Mood: Very happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

There is a louder shout to come,
There is a sweeter song to hear,
All the nations with one voice,
All the people with one fear,

Bowing down before Your throne,
Every tribe and tongue we'll be,
All the nations with one voice,
All the people with one King.

And what a song we'll sing upon that day...

-- Matt Redman, "There Is A Louder Shout To Come"

Ohhhh yes. This is one of my favourite songs at the moment. It was on the Survivor Songs Four CD that I told you I had bought. And I think it's so true.

We can't imagine what Heaven's going to be like. No matter how exciting you may think your life is at the moment, it'll pale in comparison to what's to come. The book of Revelation tells us what it'll be like:

Then I heard everything in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything in them say, 'Blessing, honour, praise, and power belong for ever and ever to the One who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!' Then the four living beings said, 'Amen! May it be so!' And the leaders kneeled down and worshipped the One who lives for ever and ever. - Revelation 5:13-14 (WE)

But that's just the start...

After this, I looked and saw many people. There were so many that no person could count them all. They were from every country, tribe, nation, and language. I saw them standing in front of the throne and the Lamb. They wore white clothes and they had palm branches in their hands. They called in a loud voice and said, 'Our God who sits on the throne, and the Lamb: they are the Ones who save people. Salvation belongs to them!'

All the angels were standing around the throne and around the leaders and the four living beings. They bowed down their faces in front of the throne and worshipped God. They said, 'May it be so! Blessing, praise, glory and wisdom, thanks, honour, power, and strength belong to our God for ever and ever! Amen!'
- Revelation 7:9-12 (WE)

I'm guessing that the song lyrics at the start of this entry came from this passage. To me, it sounds awesome - everybody unashamedly worshipping God with fervour and abandonment. It's a far cry from what most of the world - even the Christian world - are doing today.

If you go to church, is it because it's a habit, or because you want to? I mean, really want to? Do you come to hear the music, or worship through the music?

It's a question that I have a hard time with. I know that my relationship with God could be better than it is, and that'll always be the case. But last week really helped me to get back on the right track, I think. :)

And as for the song we'll sing in one great big explosion of love for our Lord... well, I can't imagine. But it's going to be sooooooo cool. :D

Aug 28, 2002: *spit* (link | trackback: 0)

I recently read an article called The World's Worst Landlord? linked to from Furo.com. And I think it's sickening. :|

Gah. Go read the two links yourself, I don't want to talk about it any more.

Aug 28, 2002: The Index of Evil? (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 11:14 - Mood: Thoughtful - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

I just came across an interesting entry in my logs just now:

66.111.194.10 - - [28/Aug/2002:07:02:59 -0400] "GET /journal.cgi HTTP/1.0" 200 29033 "-" "EvilBot (www.warblogging.com) - lwp-trivial/1.35"

I was curious, so I went and took a look around the site. Turns out that the site in question has what it calls an "Index of Evil" at the top-right corner. Clicking on the heading brings you to an explanation of how it works. Basically, it searches updated weblogs using the index from Weblogs.com for the words "Ashcroft", "Hussein", "Saddam" or "Osama" and keeps a tally of how many times they're mentioned. It does this every hour. Yes, because I've just mentioned all four words, I expect they'll all go up one.

All I can say to it is "Hmm". Interesting concept, but... why? :/

Aug 28, 2002: What's been going on... (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 10:35 - Mood: Happy - Location: Work - Now playing: n/a

Hey, look at me,
living life for You,
When it's good, when it's hard, you know me, you know my heart,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I give up
anything at all, when You call,
all I know it's worth it all!

-- Michael W. Smith, "Worth It All"

Whee. Once again I update.

Recently, I've been having a good time. Last week, between the 17th and the 24th of August, I went with my church's youth group to Pembrokeshire in Wales, and had a really great time. We did a lot while we were there, including going to beaches, playing games, and having great worship sessions. :) We stayed at the Haven Christian Centre while we were there, which was great. :D There was a Christian bookshop nearby too, which I bought a couple of CDs from - Survivor Songs Two and Survivor Songs Four. They sound really great, and contain music from people like Matt Redman, Paul Oakley, YFriday, and others. :D

I'm also posting here to test something new. The guys at Weblogs.com keep a table of updated weblogs, and they have a script you can use to "ping" it to let it know you've updated. I've incorporated this into the journal now, so after I post this, it should appear as updated. :)

I also now use blogrolling.com for my links on the left, although I'm using a slightly different method than most to display mine. Whereas most people (in fact, probably everybody other than me) use one of the four options they give to dynamically insert the code into the HTML, I don't do that, because dynamic code (such as JavaScript) means that the results can't be cached by search engines. :( Instead, I'm parsing the results from blogrolling and inserting them as normal HTML. I've contacted blogrolling's support email address to ask them if this is okay, and I'll let you know what they say.

*phew*... that was a long entry. Mind you, it makes up for the times when I haven't blogged recently. :)

Aug 27, 2002: I'm baaaaaack! (link | trackback: 0)
Time: 18:17 - Mood: Happy - Location: Home - Now playing: n/a

Well, after a whole load of things, including getting the files for this journal off from mystationwagon and onto here, the journal's finally up and running again. Which is good.

And I promise I'll update frequently from now on. :)
