I had initially intended it only to take 5 minutes but it turns out that there's a problem with it, and it can't come back up. I'll update you as things progress. - Ciaran. From ciaran at theblob.org Mon Dec 24 14:37:44 2007 From: ciaran at theblob.org (Ciaran Hamilton) Date: Mon, 24 Dec 2007 19:37:44 +0000 Subject: [matrix-announce] Downtime Message-ID: Hi, Three things. Firstly, sorry for the downtime on matrix earlier. The downtime was firstly due to me making some changes in preparation for the yearly->monthly switchover (see one of my previous emails about this), but that only took 5 minutes. The rest of the downtime was due to some problems with the kernel, but it took some time to debug. As a result, matrix is now using a 2.6 kernel instead of a 2.4 kernel, so bear that in mind if you need to use it. But it's now up again, so that's great. :D Secondly, it's potentially possible that you guys may not have got the last email. You *should* have done, because even though matrix is the server that handles theblob.org's mail, I have a secondary MX server set up to go directly to the server that handles this mailing list, so you should still get emails I sent to the list while matrix is down. But I want to make certain that you got it - it would have been about an hour ago. Let me know at ciaran at theblob.org , please. :) Lastly, it's getting very close to the end of December. Obviously, given the fact that I'm even sending this email out, I haven't managed to move everything over yet, mail included. Thus, I'm going to be switching to monthly payments for it for now; hopefully I can get everything sorted by the end of January. It involves lowering my disk space, but that's now been done. Take care! Again, I'll let you know what happens with the switchover. - Ciaran.
